INTRODUCTION:

(PRUNING OIL PALM)

This week, we were given the task of cutting dead palm fronds by manual and by machine. We were taught to trim palm fronds as close together as we could without causing harm to neighboring bunches, fronds, or coconut trunks. This will help to prevent the tree from being overly bushy and facilitate fruit picking.


OBJECTIVE

- Make certain the tree receives more light.

- Increased fruit yield.

- Improve tree quality.

CHALLENGE:

- Puddled area.

- Machine breaks down.

- The fronds are too thick.


ACTIVITIES:

7:00am : Exercise and check class attendance

8:00am: Next, Sung a national anthem, faithful insight UITM and planter's song.

8:30am : Briefing with lecturer about activities that is pruning the oil palm.

9:00am : Go to farm and starting learning to prune palm oil.

10:30am : Break and relaxing the body.

11:30am Finish the field work and go back to the room.
